Title I Policy Statement

The East Belfast Elementary School Title I staff encourage parental involvement in the program to promote successful school experiences for parents and students.

School Compact

The Title I School-Parent Compact is sent home in the fall or when a student begins working with the Title I teacher.  As part of our compact, parents are asked to provide home/school connections to ensure their child’s success. Although parents are invited annually to review and revise our School-Parent Compact, please feel free to submit your ideas at any time. You are invited to be on the Title l Advisory Team.

Communication

Parents are informed by letter if their child is eligible for Title I services.  Parents also receive progress reports informing them of their child’s goals and academic progress. I am available to discuss your child’s program and progress anytime with by email, phone, or appointment.

Throughout the year, Parents of Title I students are given additional information and are invited to activities that give a better understanding of what is expected of their child and the type of instruction their child is receiving. Some examples of this include:

Open House - September 5, 2018 @ 5:30

Annual Meeting

Math or Literacy Nights for Title I students

Brochures

Workshops

In late May, a survey will be distributed for feedback on the Title I program services that have been provided to you and your child.  This survey is one method in which you assist the school in the planning, reviewing and improving the Title I program.

Open House/Annual Meeting

Title I Parents are provided a notice to meet with the Title I staff during the Open House to discuss Title I services and ways to be involved and receive the Annual Meeting notices.  Parents are always welcomed to visit the Title l classroom. Open House is on September 5, 2018 from 5:30 to 6:30.

Healthy Snack Night - Cooking Workshop

Last year East Belfast School Title l families were invited to participate in a 4-week Cooking Workshop and a Healthy Snack Night. The Cooking Workshop explained how to prepare healthy foods and beverages on a limited budget. The theme of the Healthy Snack Night was to read recipes to make delicious snacks. Every family got a recipe book for the healthy snacks. The Advisory Team will decide what event they would like to have this year!

Statement of Purpose

The purpose of Title 1 is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

 Monthly Newsletters

A principal’s newsletter goes home monthly.  The purpose of the newsletter is to inform parents of upcoming student and parent activities that will occur in our school and present success stories of past events.  Parent Tips have been added to the back of the newsletter to provide information on a variety of topics. Please let us know if there is a topic you would like to see presented!

Website

A Title l website is available that allows us to not only provide useful information for our Title I parents but also to the larger local community.  We typically post upcoming events and this parent involvement policy. The Title I website for the East Belfast School can be accessed either from the RSU 71 website or through the school website.

We always welcome parent participation, feedback, and involvement.  Feel free to contact the Title I Program staff any time at the school office by calling 338-4420 or emailing jnealey@rsu71.org. Please call the school if you would like to join the Title l Advisory Team, we value your opinion.
